報告人簡介: 向開南教授，博導，1999年獲中國科學院博士學位，1999-2001年在北京大學做博士后，2001-2007年在湖南師范大學工作，2007-2019年在南開大學工作，現為湘潭大學博士生導師。向教授入選過2005年度教育部新世紀優秀人才支持計劃，發表了中國大陸概率論學者在頂級數學期刊Comm. Pure Appl. Math.上的第一篇論文，2015年開始在科學網（www.sciencenet.cn）上寫博文（blog.sciencenet.cn/u/MinGongl），其中博文“從學生角度振興南開數學（一）、（二）、（四）”上了科學網的頭版頭條，“從學生角度振興南開數學（三）”、“說真話系列博文（二）、（三）”上了科學網頭版。
報告摘要：T.M. Liggett remarked that “The importance of critical exponents is based largely on what is known as the universality principle, which plays an important role in mathematical physics.” Here universality principle means that while the value of critical parameter will usually depend on the details of the definition of the model, the value of critical exponent will be the same for large classes of models(called universality classes). This principle has been an important source of problems in mathematical physics and probability theory.
